1996 - Unto Us a Child Is Born

No, I'm not talking about the Immaculate Conception...

April Virginia Carr finally made her appearance on Dec. 6! I didn't go to the hospital with Lisa this time; I stayed with her three other girls at the house.

Despite a few hiccups, April was healthy and beautiful and home within a few days. My friend and co-worker, Andrew Davis, designed the "Hershey Bar" birth announcement (before they went "viral").

Her arrival and Dad's health concerns understandably kept us from our baking sheets for a while. I'm surprised we accomplished much at all this year.

Still, we couldn't resist one last session for golden Peanut Butter Cookies. We had all the ingredients we needed - a first in sister-bakedom! We were together, the baby was content, so we baked! We used the recipe in "Joy of Cooking" and cranked them out in no time.

Lisa knocked over a stack and a single; then I knocked over a raw tray-full! Despite our clumsiness, we managed a mega yield of 19 dozen.

    1. I think you must have been the best early Christmas present she ever received! She looks beautiful because she was so happy. We all were - you were a sweet baby. You know, we went shopping that year on Black Friday (only time I ever did). She was a trooper! And she never missed a beat just because you decided to show up - just kept right on going and celebrating. Thanks for your comment. oxo
